This year I decided to delve into an idea I have been wanting to explore for quite some time, but it required time, passion, and living a monastic lifestyle for several months. The pieces are made up of an oil on loose canvas portrait with several layers of painted tulle that fall in front. The physical form of the subject is made up of many floating dabs of paint, creating a holographic 3D image that is moving and ethereal. These works explore the human condition through materials' unique ability to represent transparency, internal complexity, and the filtering of social identity. The floating dabs of paint strangely remind me of Star Trek, as the subjects physical form appears to be breaking into particles on a journey to a new paradigm. This series will continue to take shape as we humans respond to a fast changing world.
